Music, my first love
The piano was invented by Bartolomeo Cristofori (1655-1731) of Italy. Cristofori was unsatisfied by the lack of control that musicians had over the volume level of the harpsichord. He is credited for switching out the plucking mechanism with a hammer to create the modern piano around the year 1700. Piano is an important part of my life. Growing up I used to spend 4-6 hours practicing and perfecting techniques. I was only 7 years old when I decided I wanted to be a musician. I convinced my parents to take me for an aptitude test and I passed. I was beyond excited: "I was going to be a Pianist". I didn't understand the complexity of that decision. The classical music program was hard and mentally taxing, but proved to embed a sense of responsibility and competition in me as well as my peers for which I'm beyond grateful. My classmates and I all grew up together and remain friends until this day. Music academy was difficult but when I look back I can tell it was one of the best times in my life. Tenacity, perseverance, hard work, and creativity were all takeaways from my time as a music student.

Musical academy was difficult but the best times of your life and you remained friends with your classmates until this day? Very cool!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your passion for piano with the class and the world, Ani ^_^
Tenacity, perseverance, hard work, and creativity will serve you well in IS101-3003, Fall 2023 :-)
What a dedicated individual you must be! I have heard it requires a lot of effort to be a pianist. Although you have not shared your own strokes, I can tell you are a talented person. Judging by your past, you can do anything you set your mind to. I hope to get to hear you share some of your passion with the class!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I look back in class, I always see how dedicated you are to your work. Now I see that it doesn't apply to just IS101, but everything in life as well! You seem like a very sweet person. Even though we've never spoken, you're one of my favorite people in class. Finding out through this post that you play piano makes me want to hear you play very much!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's pretty cool. I always thought the piano was fascinating but very difficult to learn. The hand coordination you have to have is incredible. When I was younger, I wanted to learn to play the saxophone. I never took it up, mainly because I didn't know anyone who played it and I played sports in high school, so I couldn't join the school band.
ReplyDeleteI once took a piano lesson when I was in elementary school from my friends mom and I can definitely say it requires a lot of patience and dedication. I never really got the hang of it as they moved away shortly after I started learning but being a pianist is something to be very proud of.
ReplyDeleteI literarily got lost listing to the music specially in cloudy day today. My dad also love playing piano so I used to listen to him playing for hours and I try to learn how to play but I was not any good.
ReplyDeleteI love music! It's the best thing in the world. I really want to learn the piano but I do play the guitar!!
ReplyDeleteAnyone who is skilled in any musical instrument always catches my eye. Every individual who has a passion for music has always stood out to me as being intelligent, focused, and steadfast. I definitely see these characteristics in you from the work you do in and outside the classroom. Keep it up, Ani; you're doing great!
ReplyDeleteThat is insanely awesome, I did 3 years of orchestra playing the cello but gave up. I didn't believe I could ever be skilled enough for it to sound good enough like my sister's playing but I regret up to date because If I kept up with it I could probably be as good as her by now. Playing any music instrument takes an insane amount of skill and finger memory and dexterity specially the piano.
ReplyDeleteEspecially with music related I've seen lots of people who gave up and changed their careers. That is why I amazed to know how you had your goal since you were little and still working hard for it! It is hard to stay focus, has lot of patience and never give up on your goals. You got this we are all rooting for you!!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to learn something new about the piano and very nice to learn about your passion for it. Also the music was amazing.
ReplyDeleteClassical music has always sounded very complicated to me. Great job for even attempting to follow your dreams. It sounds like you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteYour passion for the arts is amazing. I also really love the theme of your blog, although the font is a little difficult to understand.
ReplyDeleteI playing instrument I have played piano for a short coming back every cupule of years but mainly playing the violin for the longest time
ReplyDeleteLove the passion for the difficult art. I can't imagine how hard it would be to learn piano.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing one of your favorite pieces. I applaud you for the hard work and dedication you've committed to pursing your passion. I'm sure it is not easy and requires a great deal of conviction, discipline and talent. The piano is beautiful, I wish I knew how to play it.
